Share Ideas, Not Judgement

How do you connect with others?

Over a recent Netflix series or an article of clothing you noticed them wearing? Is it over a mutual like or dislike of someone else?

These all tend to be common icebreakers, but unfortunately, many conversations don’t make it past these points.

As someone who quickly opens up to most people, I have to constantly remind myself that others can be more cautious and simply need more time.

No matter how introverted or extroverted people are, it seems as if we are all in the same boat when it comes to looking for better ways to connect with others.

In my mind, there is no better way to connect with another human being than over shared ideas. This connection becomes even deeper when two people use these shared ideas as the basis for collaboration.

I feel this way because ideas are a universal concept. Everyone has ideas. Whether you’re young, old, rich, poor, black, white, or anything in between, ideas are a fundamental part of who we are as humans.

When we share our ideas, we are expressing not only our thoughts, but also our values, beliefs, and desires. We are attempting to self-actualize through our own ideas.

What exactly does this mean? Simply put, we communicate our potential through the ideas we share with others.

The challenge is this requires much more vulnerability than traditional methods of connecting. Both parties need to feel safe and secure enough to share their ideas without fear of immediate rejection. This sort of environment should be as widespread as Starbucks, but unfortunately, it isn’t.

But what if it was?

Imagine a future where you can easily connect with others over ideas wherever y0u are. Picture being able to form deeper connections and relationships by sharing what you’re passionate about. Take this a step further and imagine turning these connections into productive collaborations that create value for others.

This is a future I not only want to live in, I want to help create, and I imagine I’m not alone.

Are you also looking for a deeper way to connect with others? Would you rather relate to others with your ideas instead of your thoughts on the last episode of Game of Thrones? We should definitely talk.
